It's almost a given at this point that the majority of teams will hold a pink meet supporting breast cancer. While some teams succeed in their mission of bringing their leotard into this venture, others... Not so much.
The criteria is the same as normal meets except school spirit is replaced by pink meet spirit. And to refresh your memory on the other criteria: up to three points for design; two points for fabric, sparkle, etc.; and two points for spirit; three points for overall appearance. After assigning points to each category, we’ll tally up the scores and average them with the previous week’s. So by the end of the season, we’ll know for sure which team has the best leotards (according to us) and which teams not so much. We want to know what you thought too (or if we forgot one of your favorites from this weekend)! Let us know in the comments below or on Twitter. And make sure to vote in our poll at the bottom of the page to make your opinion heard in the fan vote, new this season.

By Caroline Medley Buckle up gym fans! We’re in for another big SEC showdown at the Gainesville regional, featuring conference-mates No. 3 Florida, No. 10 Georgia and No. 15 Missouri as the top three seeds. Joining them will be No. 30 New Hampshire, No. 33 Penn State and No. 35 North Carolina, all teams who are capable of solid scores but have had inconsistencies left and right. Many of these teams have already faced each other at least once this season, so almost all of them know what to expect out of their opponents. This big rematch-fest may get really interesting really quickly.

By Elizabeth Grimsley and Christina Marmet It’s time for another round of NCAA Gym News Power Rankings. This week we’ll be coming up with our top 14 teams and assigning them each a secondary Harry Potter character we think best fits its season up to this point. But we don’t expect you to agree with our opinions 100 percent. Let us know your thoughts and who you have in your top 10 in the comments or on social media.
If you’re a traditionalist or numbers freak, you can look at the Road to Nationals official rankings here. By Elizabeth Grimsley, Christina Marmet and Caroline Medley We’ve got the first two weekends of the 2017 collegiate gymnastics season under our belts! Doesn’t it feel nice to be back? The start of the season also means we can finally come up with realistic rankings rather than that thing that came out before the season started that most of the head coaches crafted up.
Rather than looking at last year’s results, we watched the meets from the past who weekends to get a sense of where teams stand relative to each other. From there we ranked teams we think should be in the top 10, based on our opinions of how they look. If you followed along with our power rankings last season, you’ll remember we typically had a theme to go along with our posts. However, for this first edition in 2017, we’re straight shooting. The themes will start the next round. If you’re a traditionalist or numbers freak, you can look at the Road to Nationals official rankings here. |
