UCLA will took to the competition floor Friday with the hopes of advancing to Saturday’s Super Six and winning its seventh national championship. The Bruins earned their spot in the championship two weeks prior by winning the Champaign Regional in Champaign, Illinois.
The regional wasn’t just where UCLA clinched a spot at nationals, though. It was where the team came across several familiar faces from just one team: host Illinois.

There were so many good pink leos this season that we couldn’t fit them all in one post! So rather than an extremely long post, or leaving out good leos, we decided to treat you to another round of pink leo judging! The criteria is the same as normal meets except school spirit is replaced by pink meet spirit. And to refresh your memory on the other criteria: up to three points for design; two points for fabric, sparkle, etc.; and two points for spirit; three points for overall appearance. After assigning points to each category, we’ll tally up the scores and average them with the previous week’s. So by the end of the season, we’ll know for sure which team has the best leotards (according to us) and which teams not so much. We want to know what you thought too (or if we forgot one of your favorites from this weekend)! Let us know in the comments below or on Twitter. And make sure to vote in our poll at the bottom of the page to make your opinion heard in the fan vote, new this season.
By Elizabeth Grimsley While the standard response is "it's all about the team," individual event titles will be given out at the NCAA National Championships in St. Louis, this weekend. Champions on vault, bars, beam, floor and all around will be crowned as well as the top eight from each semifinal combined earning first-team All-America honors and those placing ninth to 16th will be named second-team All-Americans. While each of the 12 teams will put up individuals capable of winning the titles, a number of individuals without teams also qualified to compete in Missouri. It'll be a tight race, and really, whoever is on top of their form on that given day will walk away national champion.
By Caroline Medley With Semifinal II featuring LSU, Florida, Georgia and Alabama, it’s practically going to be a session two of SEC Champs redux. Only this time, the stakes are higher and fraught with more peril, because there are two more challengers of equal or higher caliber gunning for the same spots. On any good day, any of these teams could qualify to Super Six, so it will really come down to who can hit, and how well can they hit, on the day it counts.
By Elizabeth Grimsley Teams with zero to six athletic scholarships wrapped up their seasons this weekend with the USAG Collegiate National Championships in Seattle. Texas Woman's University took its 10th all-time national title after a hard fought final. Individual event champions were also crowned.
