The season is about halfway over now, and things are really heating up! Posting big scores or at least those in the 197s are more important than ever, and shoring up lineups and finding consistency is crucial. Florida will look to post another ginormous score to help people forget about the little beam episode it had last week at Georgia. Meanwhile, Oklahoma will look to keep the Gators away from its newly earned first place position in the rankings. Many teams’ goals will be to have clean meets without falls — something a lot of the top squads can’t say has happened so far this season.
As always, we’ll tell you who we think will win these top meets, give previews of other notable matchups and provide scoring and video links for every competition happening between Friday and Monday. And this week, we’re welcoming Casey Magnesium to the pick em panel! But we don’t want to be the only ones with opinions. We want to hear your opinions too! So play along by answering who you think will win each matchup by participating in the polls. And if you feel strongly about your choices, feel free to let us know in the comments below. The records so far for our 2016 season college pick em are as follows: Emily (18-8), Elizabeth (20-6), fan vote (18-8).
No. 4 Alabama at No. 8 Auburn: Friday, February 12 at 8:30 p.m. ET
Alabama Preview | Auburn Preview In one of the biggest rivalries in sports, not just gymnastics, Alabama will travel to Auburn for the second meetup between the two teams this season. With the Crimson Tide taking the win in the first competition in Birmingham, the Tigers will be looking for their first victory ever over their in-state rivals. But the team has faced adversity this season, losing two contributing freshmen to season-ending injuries in the same meet. But just last weekend, both teams tallied the same total score at different locations. Yes, you can’t really compare scores across meets, but it’s still something to note. On Friday, Auburn will have home floor advantage while Alabama will have a higher potential score. Depending on which of the 92 lineup variations the Tide decides to compete will play a factor in how close this meet will be.

It was another week of mesh and sparkles and rhinestones galore. There were some grand slam home runs but also some strikeouts. And we’ve got a surprise for you all. Casey Magnesium, 2015 fantasy gymnastics champion and gymternet fave, will be helping judge this week!
As always, we’ve got some simple criteria for judging the leos: up to three points for design; two points for fabric, sparkle, etc.; and two points for school spirit; three points for overall appearance. We’ll be looking at leotards we saw that caught our eye — in either a good way or a bad one. Then we’ll tally up the scores and average them with the previous week’s. So by the end of the season, we’ll know for sure which team has the best leotards (according to us) and which teams not to much. We want to know what you thought too (or if we forgot one of your favorites from this weekend)! Let us know in the comments below or on Twitter.
It was another exciting week in NCAA gymnastics. More top teams were upset, and No. 1 Florida went down after catching a case of the beam falls. Oklahoma also impressed, posting two almost-198s in three days. Many program records were also met or nearly reached as Eastern Michigan bested its program-high not once but twice this weekend. Michigan finally reached the 197 mark and Cal had it’s second-highest score in team history. Lots of exciting things went on, and we know you probably didn’t follow everything. So catch up on everything you missed, including scores, links to team recaps and full results.
No. 1 Florida at No. 11 Georgia: Full Results

a 198 at home last week. The freshmen got a taste of competing in front of a large, loud crowd that’s not all supporting you. And the Gymdogs showed they can put up the big numbers when needed.
Only a couple more weeks until RQS hits the standings full force. It’s bound to shake things up. But this week we’re still using good old averages to figure out who’s No. 1 and who’s… not. But like always, we don’t ever completely agree with the averages. Some teams might have had one off week that’s holding them back while others have had the benefit of home mat advantage to help boost their image. So we ranked the teams ourselves, this time to the theme of elite gymnastics. Which team was a Simone and which was Aly? As always, Llt us know who you have in your top 15 and what elite gymnastics figures you think they take after in the comments or on Twitter. And if you’re a traditionalist, you can check out the official rankings on Road to Nationals. Simone Biles1. Oklahoma Merely looking at this past weekend, Oklahoma was dominant in competition. Like Simone Biles, no team could stand in the Sooners’ way of winning or reaching some of the top scores in the country so far. Hitting almost-198 not once but twice is a feat in and of itself. Doing it away and home, legitimizes the accomplishment (even if there were some fancy scores being thrown around). The Sooners now need to do the same thing when it counts. World titles are great, but Olympic glory is what even the non-gym fans remember for years to come.
