There were a LOT of great leotards this week with few misses, so the fight for the top for week three will be fierce. Will it be TWU’s burgundy ombre number, EMU’s new shiny black/white/green gradient, UNC’s #BeTrue leo or another team completely?
The criteria is the same as last season. But to refresh your memories: up to three points for design; two points for fabric, sparkle, etc.; and two points for school spirit; three points for overall appearance. After assigning points to each category, we’ll tally up the scores and average them with the previous week’s. So by the end of the season, we’ll know for sure which team has the best leotards (according to us) and which teams not so much. We want to know what you thought too (or if we forgot one of your favorites from this weekend)! Let us know in the comments below or on Twitter. And make sure to vote in our poll at the bottom of the page to make your opinion heard in the fan vote, new this season. By Caroline Medley and Elizabeth Grimsley In a new feature for the site, two of our editors, Caroline and Elizabeth, discuss whether or not gymnasts should go to 10.0 start-value vaults or stick with the 9.95s. For a more technical analysis of the situation, read the Balance Beam Situation’s piece on the subject. For clarity, note that Caroline’s opinion is stated in regular font while Elizabeth’s is in italics.
By Elizabeth Grimsley Please note that until mid-February, rankings will be based on average score. After the switch, standings will be calculated by Regional Qualifying Score. For the full standings, click here.
