There were more meets this weekend which means there’s more leotards to judge and rank! From some beautiful ones to others that left us wanting more, we talk about the good, the bad and the ugly from this week in NCAA gymnastics.
There’s some simple criteria we use for judging leos: up to three points for design; two points for fabric, sparkle, etc.; and two points for school spirit; three points for overall appearance. We’ll be looking at leotards we saw that caught our eye — in either a good way or a bad one. Then we’ll tally up the scores and average them with the previous week’s. So by the end of the season, we’ll know for sure which team has the best leotards (according to us) and which teams not to much. We want to know what you thought too (or if we forgot one of your favorites from this weekend)! Let us know in the comments below or on Twitter.

The excitement continued this week in NCAA gymnastics with the first 197s, unfortunate implosions and teams that continued to impress. LSU started the weekend off in shocking fashion, having to count three falls during its competition against N.C. State in Las Vegas. No. 1 Michigan and No. 3 Florida both won easily while No. 4 Oklahoma and No. 6 Alabama picked up two wins in three days. Floor wasn’t much better. The team had two falls, but last-minute-substitution Erin Macadaeg, competing in her first NCAA floor lineup, scored a whopping 9.95. Meanwhile, N.C. State had a consistent but average meet. The Wolfpack, scored three career-highs on vault from freshmen Caitlyn Fillard, Alexa Phillips and Maggie Tamburro.
Passport to Paris
1. Florida Passport to Paris was one of the best MK&A movies made. I’m not going to go all out and say it’s my favorite because I don’t have one, but it’s up there. It has everything, just like Florida. There’s Paris, French boys, a cheesy shopping/fashion show montage and hilarious one-liners. I mean, when you watch the Gators, don’t you just want to go, “Bonjour, Bonjour, oh my god!” There were some definite changes in the rankings this week after teams added more scores to their averages. Florida, Alabama and Oklahoma each posted the first 197s (with the Sooners doing it twice) while LSU had an off day that dropped it in the rankings. The individual rankings also became more clear. There are now less 17-way ties for places and more clear standouts on each event. For complete standings, go to Road to Nationals. Please note these rankings do not include Monday's results.
