California head coach and Jamaican national team coach Justin Howell and California associate head coach Elisabeth Crandall-Howell organized a training camp for the team's gymnasts who are preparing for the 2015 World Championships. California hosted the Jamaican National Team in what was its first-ever team camp. California sophomore Toni-Ann Williams and UCLA junior Danusia Francis are both on the Jamaica's National Team. Also at the camp were gymnasts from California's men's team who are training to represent their respective home countries at Worlds, which will begin on Oct. 23 in Glasgow.
UCLA redshirt sophomore Peng-Peng Lee has been spotted training a double layout onto the resi mat on floor. A gem to watch in elite, will fans get a chance to see Lee compete floor for the Bruins this year?
Also spotted working toward the season was freshman Kayelyn Ohashi on bars. The Bruin's piked jaeger is the first step in a much anticipated return to gymnastics for the former standout elite. She competed as a level 10 last season, but only time will tell whether Ohashi will be able to regain all her previous skills and just what her collegiate composition will be.
Every year fans get their first look at the upcoming season's teams and new freshmen during picture day. Now more than ever, followers on social media are getting a sneak peek into some of the photos before they're even processed or published.
This post will be updated as more teams post pictures or videos. Keep checking back!
There have been a lot of posts on Georgia's Brittany Rogers lately, but she just keeps giving us material! Rogers has been training an Amanar since the summer, and we have to say it's coming along nicely. Onto what looks like a resi with an eight-inch mat at just below competition height, could we be seeing the vault in competition some time soon? (And not to mention, we love how excited she gets after every new accomplishment in the gym!)
Days until the 2017 National Championships
