Michigan Wolverines
The Wolverines are always in the hunt for a conference title, Super Six berth or national title season after season. The team won its 22nd Big Ten title in 2016, but missed out on qualifying to nationals by a few tenths after a disappointing performance at the NCAA regionals. Juniors Talia Chiarelli and Nicole Artz as well as sophomore Brianna Brown were the sole representatives of the program at the NCAA National Championships.
Michigan has qualified to nationals 22 times and has qualified to the Super Six 10 times, last in 2011. While the program has yet to win a national team championship, it boasts eight individual national titles won by four different gymnasts. Famous Michigan alumni include 2000 U.S. Olympian, three-time national champion and now University of Washington head coach Elise Ray, 2013 floor national champion Joanna Sampson, 2011 all-around champion Kylee Botterman, and three-time uneven bars champion Beth Wymer.
