Placement, seeding and other important information regarding the 2016 NCAA Regional Championships was announced earlier today on ncaa.com. In a live selection show, the top 36 teams in the country found out which of the six locations they would travel to to compete for a shot at qualifying to the national championships. While the typical formula for selection is 1/12/13, 2/11/14, 3/10/15, 4/9/16, 5/8/17, 6/7/18, host schools and how they fell with other host schools shook things up a bit. All regionals will take place April 2, 2016 at either 4:00 p.m. or 6:00 p.m. local time.
The regular season is over, conference championships are done and we now know the 36 teams that have qualified to regionals. After Monday's regionals selection show, rankings won't matter anymore. All that will matter is how a team does on regionals day in April and not any prior results. While unlikely, No. 36 could have a stellar meet and qualify to regionals. But until the placements are announced take a look at the final RQS rankings of the 2016 season. Because after regionals, we get into different ranking territory.
It was a long day full of gymnastics with a wide range of results and scores from all over the country. Florida won the SEC Championship after a controversial finish, UCLA held off a rallying Utah team to win its 17th Pac-12 title. Oklahoma ran away with the Big 12 title and Pittsburgh picked up its first-ever EAGL Championship victory. To catch up on everything you might have missed while trying to watch 16 things at once, we’ve got recaps, team totals and individual event winners and full results for every meet that happened this weekend.

It’s conference championships week! After 10 long weeks of competition, we’re almost to the point in the season where things actually matter, this weekend will be most teams’ last chance to post a big away score for that final push for a nice regionals placement. But for some, they are the home team, so if they don’t already have three solid home scores factored into their RQS, it's time to do that.
The big meets to focus on are the power conferences. With the Big 10, Pac-12 and SEC all hosting two sessions of competition and the Big 12 with one. There’s a lot going on Saturday, and we’re here to help you through it. As always, we’ve got previews of the top conference showdowns, brief things to watch for in the smaller conference championships, who we think will win the top matchups and every link for scores and video you could possibly need. But we don’t want to be the only ones with opinions. We want to hear your opinions too! So play along by answering who you think will win each matchup by participating in the polls. And if you feel strongly about your choices, feel free to let us know in the comments below.
SEC Championships: Saturday, March 19 at 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. ET
Championship Central | Coverage Plan This will most likely be the closest competition, with three real candidates for the title and a couple other outside shots. The conference is the strongest it has been in years and maybe ever with all eight teams ranked in the top 25 and all showing real highs so far this season.
Session One: No. 2 Florida, No. 3 LSU, No. 4 Alabama, No. 6 Auburn
Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky and Missouri will have a tough task in front of them if they want to have a chance at the title. Being in the afternoon session. These teams are already at a disadvantage for high scores, individual titles and team glory. It’s well known that judges like to “save” the good scores for the second session so they don’t put themselves in a hole early. However, if the gymnastics is there, these four teams will still get rewarded. Georgia is technically the strongest team of the group, but beam is always a question. If the Gymdogs hit, they have a chance at not only winning the session but placing within the top four. However, if beamtastrophies make a presence again, anything can happen. Missouri beat Georgia who beat Arkansas who beat Kentucky who beat Missouri. So who even knows what will happen.
